Don’t Be A Failure!

74% Back Surgeries Fail! Not The Answer!

Are you experiencing low back or leg pain? Have you been told surgery is necessary? Don’t be too quick to submit to the knife! You could become a failure! Studies show up to a 74% failure rate for low back surgery!

Using the Ohio Bureau of Workers compensation, researchers reviewed almost 1500 patient records with the following diagnoses: disc degeneration, radiculopathy, disc herniation or tingling and weakness of the legs. Of these, half had surgery to fuse vertebra to diminish their back pain. The other half did not have surgery.

Two years later, only 26% of those who experienced surgery returned to work. Of those who didn’t have surgery, 67% returned to work. A significant finding was increased use of opiate pain killers in those who did have surgery, a 41% increase!

The study [1] provides clear evidence that for many patients, fusion surgeries designed to alleviate pain from degenerating discs don’t work”, says the study’s lead author Dr. Trang Nguyen, a researcher at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. [2]

It is estimated in America, nearly 600,000 patients decide on back surgery a year. Unfortunately, this study reveals that in many cases, surgery can result in more pain and disability for the patients.

So if surgery runs high risk of failure: what can be done? The answer is Chiropractic care!
For years, patient’s have experienced relief from their back pain by going to chiropractic physicians. Even those who were told they needed surgery have found relief from chiropractic adjustments.

Many years ago, we had a patient come to us with low back pain. His doctors had recommended surgery, he wisely refused and sought care with us. Within a few weeks, he was pain free and we were working on strengthening his low back for prevention. He then sent his wife in who had already had TWO surgeries! The doctors were telling her she needed a third! It is exciting to say, after a treatment program of chiropractic care, she did not have surgery and was pain free!

Even the prestigious British Medical Journal recognizes that manipulation for back pain is better than most other care.

Manipulation, with or without exercise, improved symptoms more than best care (medical care) alone after three and 12 months. However, analysis of the cost utility of different strategies shows that manipulation alone probably gives better value for money than manipulation followed by exercise” (page 1381). [3]
